May 16-17 2008 IMAC Guys and Gal come to town at the ORCC

Last year an IMAC seed was planted, we had our first un-official IMAC meeting. Quite a few of us tried it out and some got the bug for good
Tom Hastie and Dave Rees got that bug and worked all winter to bring us the first Offical IMAC event of the season.
The IMAC season opener May 16 &17 2008.
They had a good entry level from all over Quebec and Ontario with good support from local flyers.
As a spectator, it looked like a well run, well attended meet, that I enjoyed on both days.
I will let my pictures tell the story. Click here http://www.dynamichobbies.com/image/tid/18

What's on this weekend? (April 25 to 27)

There are no R/C events in the Ottawa area this weekend.

ORCC is having a display at the St.Laurent shopping plaza on Saturday April 26. They are still looking for volunteers to help out, 2 hours at a time. Details on www.calmdays.com or www.Ottawarcclub.ca

Weather looks bad for Saturday so helping out will not cut out of your flying time and may help the club get more people.

Not on this weekend BUT.

A good finish to a great weekend of flying, Afternoon R/C delite at the ORCC field

April 20th, Sunday afternoon at the ORCC Field

I arrived about 5 pm, most guys were packing it up. I didn't want to waste the rest of the day. Pulled out my Century Hawk and finished off tuning the engine with the new more powerful pipe. That's one thing you should always remember to do. ANY time you change something on your setup. ie. Prop, fuel, fuel tank, muffler/pipe, even a new plug, anything/ Richen out the engine and re-tune it back to where it runs right. If you leave it at the old setting it may be too lean, it even may happen while you are flying and burn up the engine.

A GREAT weekend of Flying. Rideau Flyers Sping Fun FLY April 19, 2008

WOW I'm tired.

Started off at the Rideau Flyers Spring fun fly. It was very low key. Just a FUN time to get the field opened up.

Bill and his crew put together a Lumber jack Pancake breakfast.( I hear the pancake batter has to start at 6am) All you can eat sausages and lots of maple surup and coffee and orange juice to wash it all down. They also had burgers ready for us at lunch time.

We saw all types of planes electric, electric ducted fans, the usual nitro planes some big gas planes, some Helis and the coolest photo machines.

What's on this weekend April 18 -20, 2008

I'll bet a lot of first flights of the summer will happen this weekend.

The Rideau Flyers are having a kick off to Summer FUN FLY very informal Saturday April 19, 10 am weather permitting
$5 fee covers flying (with MAAC) and a lunch, Chefs choice. I hope to get my Heli out (Century Hawk) haven't flown since November. Rumor has it that maybe Don's Turbine heli may come out also. He made no promises. May need rubber boots for some parts of the field.

Nothing else is scheduled in my book.

If weather holds should be lots of flying at all the fields

Have fun with RC
Fred

Local Fields looking good April 13 2008 1 week later

I took a tour of the 3 local fields Stetsons, Rideau Flyers and ORCC. One week later

My evaluation of each:

Stetsons - Looking good but will take a few weeks to dry out. April showers will not help here.

Rideau Flyers looking good couldn't get on the grass but looked good should be a go for next weekend if the warm weather we hear about come true

ORCC - READY to go, Care should be taken not to make ruts in the parking lot but with the warm weather this week should be great.

In all cases check with your field managers to see when flying will be allowed.

A night out on the pool April 12 2008

I was glad I made it. I had lots of invitations to go to the last Rideau Nautical Modlers pool night in Stitsville.

They had a great turn out, never heard an official number but I would guess in the 25 range at least. There were boats of all types from 12 inch store bought to 3 foot long cruisers. Submarines, tugs, speed boats, you name it even 2 paddle wheelers.

If anybody is looking to get into the boat side of RC these guys can show you how it is done.

Check out the pictures, they really don't do them justice http://www.dynamichobbies.com/image/tid/14

Had some fun with RC

What's on this weekend RAIN RAIN RAIN April 11 to 13 2008

Tonight April 12. 2008, Rideau Nautical Modelers are running their boats at the Stittsville pool- 8:15 to 9:45 pm. spectators welcome.

Please send me an E-Mail fred@dynamichobbies .com if you want me to talk about an event you are having. I will add it to our Calender and try to make it out..

I think this weekend I will follow up on the field progress. Best to miss flying this weekend and not ruin the field by going on the soft grass too early not to mention the road in.

Every Wednesday night is Slot Car Racing at Dynamic with the Scale Slot Racers of Ottawa

If it's Wednesday it's SLOT RACING AT DYNAMIC !
Never heard of it before? The Scale Slot Racers of Ottawa invite you out every Wednesday at 7pm to try Slot Car racing.

FIRST NIGHT IS FREE AND ALL EQUIPMENT IS SUPPLIED.

If you get hooked you are looking at about $125 for equipment and $25 per month for your racing fees and you can practice any time the store is open. I took some pictures at tonights event (April 9, 2008). You can see we cater to all ages from 12yrs to Adults. A great Father son activity.

Checked out a few fields this Sunday April 6 2008

I went to the 3 main fields Stetsons, Rideau Flyers and ORCC.

Check out the pictures in Fred's Fotos.

ORCC is walk in only for this week. Looks like it will be wheels only by next weekend at ORCC.

Stetsons road in is good but field looks like it will be under water for a while.

Rideau Flyers will be the last to melt but with double digit temperatures this week
I don't think any of these fields will be long to be in full use.

All three fields were being used today

Lots of guys had some good flying this weekend and it's only the start
